Rigissa Megalokonomou will join the University of Queensland as an Assistant Professor in Economics in July 2016. She has obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick, UK (2016). She holds an MSc in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Essex, UK.

She is an applied microeconomist with a strong interest in the economics of education and labor economics. Her current work analyses: the effect of ranking position on later school performance and labor market outcomes; the effect of teachers' gender stereotypes on students' performance and the choice of college major; the effect of social interactions within schools and neighborhoods on students' education decisions; the impact of school attendance on educational outcomes and externalities in the classroom; the impact of college bursaries on employability and labor market earnings.

Rigissa joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2016 and became an IZA Research Fellow in November 2021.
