Ahmed Elsayed Mohamed is a Senior Research Associate at IZA. He is the Deputy Director of the IZA’s program area "Gender, Growth and Labour Markets in Low Income Countries" (G²LM | LIC) and the network program area "Labor and Development".

He received his PhD in Economics from Maastricht University in 2015. Before PhD, he worked as a Researcher under the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Reserach Assistantship program.

Ahmed joined the IZA network as a Research Affiliate in 2013. In 2014 he moved to Bonn as a Research Associate and in 2017 he became Senior Research Associate.

His main research interests are in labor, migration, and development economics. He is particularly interested in the economic implications of terrorism for both native and migrant groups, as well as gender inequalities in education and labor markets in developing countries.
