Peter Bergman is an Associate Professor of Economics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, co-directs the Education Technology Initiative at J-PAL, and is director and founder of the Learning Collider research lab. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and his BA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Learning Collider uses tools from economics and machine learning to instrument digital platforms for real-time research and social impact. Our work engages key determinants of social mobility: education, housing, and employment. (www.learningcollider.org)

Previously, Dr. Bergman was a New York City Teaching Fellow and a middle school special education teacher.

He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2017.
