Holger Bonin has been Research Director of IZA since July 2016. He is also a member of the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation established by the German Federal Government, and teaches as Professor of Labor Market and Social Policy at the University of Kassel.

Holger’s empirical research focuses on the impact of digital progress and demographic changes on employment and working life. He also evaluate the effects of social policy measures, in particular in the realms of active labor market policy and family policy.

He is a member of the platform "Digital World of Work" and of the board of experts of the Skilled Worder Monitoring System established by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. He has served in the Independent Expert Commission for the Second Gender Equality Report of the Federal Government. Holger is elected member of the Economic Policy, Social Polcy and Population Economics Committees within the German Economic Association.
