In 2010 he joined the Department of Development and Security at DIW Berlin, where he was part of the project ‘Economic Transformation, Household Behaviour and Economic Well-Being in Central Asia: The Case of Kyrgyzstan’ funded by the Volkswagen Foundation until March 2013. He graduated from the Kyrgyz National State University in 1996 with a Diploma in Applied Mathematics and obtained a Master’s degree in Development Economics at Williams College (USA) in 2003. He worked in the Economics Department of the National (Central) Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic in 1996- 2004, on areas related to balance of payments compilation and analysis. In 2004-2009 he worked as an economist in the World Bank office in the Kyrgyz Republic and was involved in poverty and economic analysis and operational activities. He currently works on issues of inequality between ethnic groups, intergenerational mobility, and agricultural export markets in Kyrgyzstan.
