Tanika Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a Research Fellow at IZA, Bonn.
She completed her Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St Louis in 2009 after which she spent two years as a researcher at DIW Berlin. Her research interests involve Applied Microeconomics with a particular focus on labour markets and household decision-making in developing countries. Recent research includes analysis of gender imbalance and education policies in India, intra-household decision-making in Mexico, and migration and network formation in Kyrgyzstan.
Established in 1998 in Bonn, Germany, IZA is an independent, non-profit research institution supported by the Deutsche Post Foundation with a focus on the analysis of global labour markets. It operates an international network of about 1,500 economists and researchers spanning across more than 50 countries.
