Michael S. Kofoed

Michael Kofoed is an Associate Professor of Economics at the United States Military Academy at West Point. His research interests include the economics of education, higher education finance, economics of financial aid, labor economics, health economics, defense economics, and applied microeconometrics.

Mike earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Economics from Weber State University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Georgia. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources, and Journal of Health Economics. Some of his research has been cited in popular press outlets such as New York Times, Wall Street Journal¸ and Inside Higher Education. Mike has twice been the recipient of the Early Career Research Award from the Upjohn Institue for Employment Research.

Michael Kofoed joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2020.
