Dr. Philipp Boeing is a researcher with the ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research, a research affiliate with IZA - Institute of Labor Economics, and a fellow with Tsinghua University’s Research Center for Technological Innovation in China. His research interests include policy evaluation, patent-based indicators, firm-level returns to innovation, and import competition. His research agenda is characterized by the combination of micro data, econometric analysis, and methodological advancements. He is particularly interested in China’s innovation-driven development and its impact on the European and German economies.
Philipp Boeing holds a doctoral degree in economics and a master’s degree in international business from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, as well as a bachelor’s degree in East Asian studies and economics from the Ruhr University Bochum. He was a visiting researcher at Peking University, Melbourne University, Tsinghua University, UNU-MERIT Maastricht, and LMU Munich.
Philipp Boeing joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in July 2019.
