Pierre Mouganie is an assistant professor in economics at Simon Fraser University. He received his PhD in economics from Texas A&M University in 2015.

His research focus is in applied microeconomics, with an emphasis on issues in labor, education and public economics. In past work, he has looked at how quality of education affects labor market outcomes, the impact of peer quality versus teacher quality on student performance as well as how military conscription affects the demand for education and subsequent labor market outcomes. In ongoing work, he looks at how peers and advisors can help reduce the female STEM gender gap and the adverse effects of open air waste burning on infant outcomes.

Pierre Mouganie joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in June 2019.
