Björn Fischer is a Postdoctoral researcher at ZEW Mannheim in the Department Labor Markets and Social Insurances.
His research interests lie in labor economics and the consequences of demographic change. In particular, he worked on understanding unintended consequences of pension policy reforms on household behavior. A major interest of Björn is to study the provision of informal long-term care (LTC) by family members and its short- and long-term costs for individuals.
He got his PhD from Freie Universität Berlin and the DIW Graduate Center in 2022. Prior to joining the DIW Graduate Center he completed his M.A. in Public Economics in FU Berlin while being a Research Assistant at DIW Berlin. He got his B.A in Politics and Economics in Münster.
Björn Fischer became an IZA Affiliate in April 2023.
